Ethan's Birthday

Ethan turned four this week! His Birthday was Monday, but don't tell Ethan that---he didn't believe me. When I woke him up on Monday and wished him a happy birthday he said "Mom it's not for a few days." So I guess it's not officially your birthday until the party! He wanted a "camping-out" party so we were happy that the weather was decent.

This is the "lake" where we caught some frogs and fish with our nets--and got pretty good and wet. Alan told me it was a terrible idea because there was no way I was going to keep the kids out of the pool, and he wasn't wrong, one party guest took a dip. But it was also the hit of the party, the kids kept throwing the toys back in so that they could catch them again.

Alan made a fire pit back in the trees so that we could roast marshmallows YUM!
And what better way to celebrate a camp-out than with a fire cake. The breeze even helped him blow out the candles!

Applesauce

We took a trip to the farmers market and came home with a couple of bushels of apples--so we made applesauce!! Sometimes I wonder if it's really worth all that effort, spending an entire day slaving in the hot kitchen--but we are making great memories right? And there is that sense of accomplishment. Plus, I had lots of help!



Dylan was a big helper--he probably ate an entire quart of the stuff before I got it all in the jars!
