Last week we decided to take some time off and relax a little before the kids head back to school. So we rented a cabin in Epworth in North Georgia. The cabin was called Creekside Comfort and that’s pretty much what it was, a cozy place next to a creek. The kids loved the creek and the hot tub. We spent a lot of time at the cabin. We had a little fire pit where we roasted hot dogs and made smores. We popped popcorn and watched a couple movies. We even played hide and seek inside the cabin. When we decided to venture out, we rode the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad to McCaysville. Copperhill and McCaysville are basically one town right on the Georgia Tennessee border with the line running right through the middle of the town (literally). In Georgia it’s called McCaysville and in Tennessee it’s Copperhill. We had enough time to get lunch at a local café. We checked out some tourist shops and then rode the train back along the river. We took some time to hike around and even found a couple geocaches. We also floated down the Toccoa river on tubes. (Which becomes the Occoe river once you cross into Tennessee, not confusing at all) On the way home we stopped at a trout farm so the kids could catch some fish. (Alan wasn’t too successful helping them “really” fish) When it was all said and done, we had a nice relaxing time, and the kids can’t wait to do it again.
