City of Rocks

We visited the City of Rocks--it's not hard to tell how it got it's name.

This one we thought looked like Pride Rock from the Lion King.

The kids had a good time climbing on the rocks.

It was the boy's turn to party at grandma's--so we had a pirate sleep over--arrr!

I was up early enough to see the sun come up--I thought it was rather picturesque.

Playset Addition

I've been building an addition to the kid's playset while they are gone for the summer. It's been keeping me busy and it should be a good surprise for them when they get back.

The red colored wood was already there, all of the tan/green wood is what I've added on.

I'm going to add a roof to the large platform, but other than that it's pretty much done.

There's also a picnic table underneath. If you see my kids before I do, don't tell them about it... it's a surprise.

Grandma had slumber party for all the granddaughters--what a night!!

Craters of the moon

We took a trip to The Craters of the moon in Arco Idaho. Acres of lava fields where NASA practiced moon landings. We got to crawl into some Lava tubes--the kids had a good time exploring.

We had to bring our own flash lights--it was pretty dark down there, and cold enough to be icy.

We spent the day with my sister Kim and her family in Bancroft, Id. Uncle Tyler let us ride his horses in the oldest rodeo arena in Idaho--wow!

All the kids had a good time riding the horses--they didn't want to quit, but we had to get some lunch in before we headed over to the Portneuf River for some wild river tubing!

Dylan was happy to stay dry in the sun after getting bucked off his tube.

Katelin and Haley survived the trip down the river--just barely.

Tyler was pretty proud of himself for making it down the river without getting dumped off by the biggest rapid appropriately named the "dumper".

We were pretty worn out by the end of the day--good times!!

Weekend of the 4th

On Friday, our day started early--Tyler and Ethan participated in the first annual Malta 5-k race.

We had dinner at the park, it was a little cold and rainy, but that didn't seem to bother the kids!

It got pretty cold by the time the fireworks started---here are the kids trying to stay warm.

Saturday we spent the day at the lake riding bikes and Jet skis--we got plenty of sun and were dead tired by the end of the day!

Road Trip

My parents flew out to Atlanta to help me make the three day drive to Idaho--doesn't Dylan look thrilled!!

We made a couple of stops along the way to stretch our legs--this is a park where we played and had lunch---it's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looked like a castle.

I think the highlight of the trip was probably the speeding ticket I got in Nebraska =)
